New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson was charged Thursday with resisting arrest.

It looks like New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson has found himself in hot water once again. On Thursday Richardson was charged with resisting arrest in connection with a high-speed road race dating back to July 14th.

Apparently the police officers attempted to pull over Richardson, who was driving a 2014 Bentley Silver Spur at about 143 mph. Instead of complying, Richardson sped up, if that is even possible when you’re already going 143 mph. Not only did Richardson run a red traffic light to get away,he turned off his lights to try and shake the police officers.

He was arrested when he finally pulled into a home and that’s when Richardson decided to comply. Richardson obviously forgot the brake lights would still light up when he stepped on them and ultimately it was those lights that gave him away.

Hey, maybe he just didn’t want his really expensive and shiny new Bentley getting towed to the impound and potentially damaged or scratched in the process.

Police also reportedly found a fully loaded handgun was found beneath the driver’s seat and a strong scent of marijuana on everyone who was in the car.

To make matters worse, aside from Richardson’s life and the life of the other drivers on the road that day, there was a 12-year-old in the car too.

Now Richardson will already be riding pine when the season starts, missing the first four games while serving a suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy for you guessed it, marijuana.

Not a great start to his career.
