Arian Foster left Texans training camp on Tuesday after suffering what the team believes is a serious injury that will require surgery.

UPDATE 1: It sounds like the Texans might have to consider putting Foster on IR due to his injury. This wouldn’t be season-ending though as he’d be placed on the list designated for return.

UPDATE 2: Foster is indeed going to need surgery, but John McClain from the Houston Chronicle reports the running back should be able to return during the season.

UPDATE 3: The Texans are apparently f–ked.

The Houston Texans received word they did not want to hear on Monday when running back Arian Foster had to be taken away from the practice field with what appeared to be a groin injury. At first, it appeared that Foster may have just tweaked something, but as time passed the injury began to look more and more significant and serious.

According to Tania Ganguli, the Foster suffered a significant injury to his groin that the Texans fear could require surgery to correct.

This is just all sorts of bad news for the Texans, as the team lost Alfred Blue on Monday after he cramped up and had to be carted away and now could lose their No. 1 back for most of the season. It’s yet to be determined just how serious the injury to Foster is, but if he needs surgery it would wipe out most of his season due to recovery time.

Houston will now look at the free agent running back market to try and see if there’s anything there they can use to replace Foster with. That’s assuming he misses a large portion of the season — if not the whole season — with whatever groin injury he suffered this week.
