In wake of the disturbing Jared Fogle scandal, San Fransisco 49ers defensive end Darnell Dockett says that he will is revoking his allegiance to Subway.

Darnell Dockett’s days of eating at Subway are officially over.

TMZ reported on Thursday that the San Fransisco 49ers defensive end will no longer giving business to the fast food sandwich chain. Dockett’s decision comes in the wake of Jared Fogle, the company’s longtime spokesperson, pleading guilty to charges that include child pornography and paying to have sex with minors.

This is not the first time that Dockett has expressed his affinity for Wing Stop. During the 2013, he referenced the fast food wing joint while attempting to mack on then-Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron’s girlfriend Katherine Webb during the BCS National Championship Game.

This is what Dockett had to say to the former Miss Alabama, per NFL.com:

"@_KatherineWebb aye u going to king of diamonds Monday after game?Aye @_KatherineWebb hit me (XXX) XXX-XXXX when game over, lets go to wing stop then King of diamond,Moments later Dockett tweeted: “S— that was suppose to be DM!”"

While Webb did not choose to accompany Dockett for a night of chicken wings and strip clubs, it did launch a mini-feud with McCarron.

McCarron asked Dockett to back off his girlfriend, to which he responded by calling the Alabama quarterback a ‘sissy boy’. McCarron went on to flaunt his national championship rings, while Dockett challenged him to step into the boxing ring.

When asked about the prospects of potentially being drafted by Dockett’s Arizona Cardinals before the 2014 NFL Draft, McCarron appeared to be ready put the past behind him.

Per USA Today:

"“We’re two grown men,” McCarron said during ESPN’s DLHQ. “So hopefully we’d both have respect for each other if we’re on the same team. But, I don’t know what happens in that situation.”"

Dockett responded with this.

Wing Stop discussion aside, it will be interesting to see if how many athletes and other public figures speak out against Subway in wake of the disturbing scandal.

Their current list of athletes who endorse the company is quite impressive, including the Oklahoma City Thunders’ Russell Westbrook, American League MVP Mike Trout and and three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw.

Although none of these players will likely be nixing their endorsement deals, the negative publicity that Subway has received from the scandal could affect their ability recruit elite athletes to endorse them in the near future.
