Derrick Henry is a strong man, and if Blake Barnett didn’t know, he does now.

Derrick Henry’s official coming out party was in the 2014 Sugar Bowl against Oklahoma. Alabama lost the game, but Henry ran like a man possessed: eight attempts for 100 yards and one touchdown, one reception for 61 yards and another TD – the guy was en fuego.

At that point we should’ve all known that Henry was probably a cyborg – at the very least a man playing among boys.

During that time Blake Barnett was still hopping around Corona, Calfornia, dominating the high school circuit and climbing his way up the recruiting rankings to become the nation’s No. 2 pro-style quarterback prospect. Perhaps he missed Mr. Henry’s show, and hasn’t been privy to any of No. 27’s exploits since.

Well, to quote the late, great American Philosopher Biggie Smalls, “If you don’t know, now you know.”

Jokes aside, perhaps the most interesting part of the above video is that Barnett appears to be working out with the first team. Alabama’s quarterback situation heading into the season is a crapshoot. Nobody has really stepped up and grabbed the reins for the Crimson Tide, and it looks as though the jockeying will continue into the season’s first few games. Henry is a monster, and quite possibly the best back in a ridiculously stacked conference, but he needs somebody to feed him the rock.

Alabama’s first game will be against the Wisconsin Badgers at AT&T Stadium on September 5.
