Arrieta’s no-hitter is the sixth of the MLB season and the first for the Cubs in 2015. Arrieta’s effort helps to further solidify Chicago as a playoff team, which is currently sitting in the second wild card spot behind the Pittsburgh Pirates. Arriera was at his best in the ninth inning of the contest, striking out the side to finish off the gem. Arrieta actually out-hit the Dodgers, collecting one of the Cubs’ 13 hits on the evening.

Arrieta is now 17-6 with a 2.11 earned run average and a miniscule 0.94 WHIP. Arrieta already has 190 strikeouts, a career-high. At 29 years old, the right-hander is leading a dangerous rotation toward the postseason.
