The Dodgers don’t think Jake Arrieta’s no-hitter should count

The Los Angeles Dodgers are convinced that they got a hit off Jake Arrieta last night.

When the Los Angeles Dodgers were no-hit by Mike Fiers and the Houston Astros, there were questions raised by fans about a possible substance that aided the feat. The staunchest supporters outside of Houston in favor of the no-hitter counting were the Dodgers — but that was a rare occasion.

After being no-hit for the second time in ten days, the Dodgers are not being so nice about their opponent

The Los Angeles Times asked the Dodgers what they thought of the no-hitter and needless to say they were not happy about the now infamous error that they thought should have counted as a hit. Adrian Gonzalez said that the Dodgers weren’t alone in thinking the no-hitter wasn’t legit as even Cubs players believed that the error was a gift.

"“Are you kidding me? I asked five of their players when they were on base. They all said it should have been a hit.”"

The official score keeper, Jerry White, didn’t see it that way and thus the no-hitter stood as called. It was a close one, but the Cubs will take it if they can get it — but it’s a little troubling to hear that they were throwing their pitcher under the bus. Unless it was Arrieta saying it himself, then the Cubs should probably back him up on it and defend his no-hitter.

You can’t expect every team that is no-hit to be gracious about it and the Dodgers doing that the first time around was a breath of fresh air. But this is the reaction we expect out of a team that has been no-hit and is slumping like L.A. is doing right now, so they can’t be blamed for wanting this wiped from the books.
