The Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles are battling for position in the American League Wild Card standings and, luckily enough, they are facing off against each other this week.

Kevin Kiermaier is giving his best effort in trying to help the Rays maintain a one-game lead over the Orioles in the AL West and Wild Card race. The 25-year-old center fielder is trying to make a name for himself and robbing Manny Machado of a crucial home run to start the game is a good start.

Chris Archer gives the Rays the best chance to win on any given night and even if he allowed Machado to take him deep in the first inning, he would likely shut the door the rest of the way. However, he didn’t have to worry about that at the time because of this unbelievable catch.

It’s hard to believe that this is the same kid who made one of the worst outfield plays in Tropicana Field history just a few days ago.

If you don’t remember it, just watch as the third-year player climbed the wall in center field after thinking he would be attempting to rob a home run, only to have it fall about 20 feet short.

Nice rebound by the young outfielder who is having a solid season for the Rays. He has the makings of a nice young player in the big leagues as he’s hitting a solid .261 with seven homers and 31 RBI so far this season.

If Tampa Bay is hoping to make a serious playoff run, they will need to have the home run-robbing Kiermaier and not the terrible misjudgment one.
