With two on and no outs, the Colorado Rockies turned the easiest triple play ever against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The triple play is one of the rarest plays in baseball, if not the rarest. It doesn’t happen often, and teams could go decades without turning one. Getting three guys out at once, isn’t the easiest play to turn with the speed that players run at, but sometimes it happens.

For being such a difficult play, the Colorado Rockies turned a triple play without breaking a sweat against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Seriously, it might just be the easiest triple play turned in baseball history.

With two on and no outs, Arizona Diamondbacks superstar first baseman Paul Goldschmidt was up at the plate looking to increase the team’s 6-3 lead in the first of their doubleheader with Colorado.

Goldschmidt put a beautiful swing on the ball and lined it right at shortstop Jose Reyes. Well Ender Inciarte and Phil Gosselin, the runners on first and second, both thought it was going to be a hit to the outfield. With neither runner close to the bag, Reyes threw the ball DJ LeMahieu at second, who then pitched it softly to Ben Paulsen at first.

Inciarte was so sure that it was a hit, he was already around third on his way to home. Gosselin following his teammates ill-advised lead, was at second.

There might not ever be as easy a triple play as the one the Rockies turned in their afternoon game. For a game that probably wasn’t watched by too many people, it had one of the most memorable defensive plays in baseball this season.
