Steve Spurrier took a nice little jab at Ohio State and Texas A&M while talking with Paul Finebaum.

God bless Steve Spurrier and his general lack of concern for what people thing. He’s an open book, the ultimate quote and speaks his mind on whatever the topic may be.

During Monday’s edition of the Paul Finebaum Show, the HBC dialed up the heat and lobbed a nice little grenade at Ohio State and cross-divisional rival Texas A&M. Namely, Spurrier popped off about the two team’s weak schedules.

"“Every now and then when I listen in to your show, I know the SEC fans are a little upset at Ohio State’s schedule and rightfully so to tell you the truth,” Spurrier said. “But that’s just the way it is and how it works out for all of us. I remember several years ago, Texas A&M had four gimme games outside the conference, then eight conference games.“There’s four of us that have that in-state rivalry games from another conference. We’ve got a pretty tough schedule.”"

Ohio State opens the year with four consecutive non conference games – Virginia Tech, Hawaii, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan. Beyond that, the Buckeyes don’t play a ranked team (going by preseason rankings) until Michigan State on November 21 – 11 games into the season.

As for the Aggies, last year they played SMU, Lamar, Rice and ULM out of conference. The year before Lamar and ULM are subbed out for Sam Houston State and UTEP. When the Aggies went 11-2 in 2012, they faced LA Tech, Sam Houston State, SMU and South Carolina State. Not exactly world-beaters.

Luckily Spurrier can hang his hat on a Clemson game each year, because the likes of Wofford and Coastal Carolina aren’t quite juggernauts.

Nonetheless, it’s not football season without at least one rocket shot from Spurrier. Urban Meyer may let this one slide past, but the chatter between HBC and Sumiln leading up to the Halloween game should be fun.
