Matt Simms pretty much had no idea where he was throwing the ball on Thursday night

Excuse the shameless click bait, but it is true. Buffalo Bills quarterback Matt Simms was about to get sacked by the Detroit Lions, and you won’t believe what happened next.

a) He salvaged the play and threw for a touchdown.

b) He threw the ball away in the general vicinity of a receiver.

c) He held onto the ball.

d) He threw the ball backwards.

If you guessed “d,” you are correct. He didn’t just throw it backwards, he hurled it. He momentarily lost his football bearings, perhaps desiring to get the football into the end zone. Any end zone. Any way he possibly could. If that was his goal, well, he did a half-way decent job. Maybe he was doing some inner child work, harkening back to his childhood days in a pee wee league? Otherwise, I’m at a loss.

Check out the play for yourself.

Yeah, you totally saw that the way it happened. He actually did that.

He looked fantastic in last week’s preseason game against the Steelers, but everyone on the field that day looked like a Pro Bowl, future Hall of Famer. I’m venturing to guess that he will not have a spot on the final roster. Just a hunch.
