Maybe the best defensive player in the country injured his leg on Thursday night and he was forced to use a cane after

Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright was forced to leave the Wildcats’ opening game on Thursday night against UT-San Antonio with what appeared to be a knee injury. Wright was injured in the first quarter, although he did try to make his way back into action. However, that didn’t last too long, as he immediately knew that something was not right and he came back to the sidelines.

Trainers looked Wright over on the sidelines and he shortly made his way to the locker room. Well, upon coming back out onto the field later in the contest, Wright was seen on the sidelines needing the assistance of a cane.

It’s not known at this time exactly what the extent of the injury is, but if he needs the assistance of that cane, that’s obviously not a promising sign.

Wright potentially being out for a significant amount of time would be a huge blow to Arizona. Last season, the linebacker proved that he may in fact be the best defensive player in the nation, recording an absurd 163 tackles with 14 sacks.

As more becomes available about the injury to Wright, we’ll keep you updated.
