ULM Warhawks vs. Georgia Bulldogs

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks head to Sanford Stadium this Saturday for a matchup with the ninth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs feature a powerful rushing attack, led by sophomore running back Nick Chubb. Graduate transfer Greyson Lambert will get the start at quarterback, after winning the battle for the starting job this fall.

Louisiana-Monroe will look to rely on the passing game, as their rushing attack was the third-worst in the nation in 2014.

Keys to Victory

Georgia:

There is absolutely no reason that the Georgia Bulldogs should lose this Saturday. If they do, it will be one of the biggest upsets in college football history. Georgia has an advantage in virtually every aspect of the game. In order to win, all they have to do is avoid a colossal meltdown.

Greyson Lambert is making his first start as the Bulldogs’ quarterback, but if he can protect the football, their rushing attack will allow them to dominate the time of possession. As long as the Georgia defense shows up, they should cruise to an easy victory.

Louisiana-Monroe:

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks will need all of the stars to align perfectly to beat Georgia this weekend. On paper, there is no way that the Warhawks should come away with a victory. Stranger things have happened, though (see Appalachian State vs. Michigan in 2007). It would not be the first time Louisiana-Monroe took down an SEC opponent either. In 2012, they upset the No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks.

The defensive line will need to have a monster performance if the Warhawks are going to have a chance, and a dominant performance from redshirt freshman quarterback Garrett Smith is a must.

Prediction

This game could get out of hand early if the Georgia Bulldogs show up to play. Nick Chubb has every ability to run for 200 yards against Louisiana-Monroe, though it is doubtful that the game will be close enough to warrant a heavy workload for the sophomore running back. Georgia’s elite linebacker trio of Leonard Floyd, Jordan Jenkins and Lorenzo Carter will create havoc for the Warhawks, in particular freshman quarterback Garrett Smith.

Louisiana-Monroe’s pass-heavy offense will allow them to put some points on the board, but it will not be enough to keep this game close. The Bulldogs win in a landslide.

Final Score: Georgia 48, Louisiana-Monroe 17
