Eastern Washington Eagles vs. Oregon Ducks

The Eastern Washington Eagles take on the No. 7 Oregon Ducks Saturday evening in Eugene in a game that will see the Ducks attempting to prove their mettle without their star quarterback and first-round 2015 NFL draft pick Marcus Mariota.

Leading the Ducks will be quarterback Vernon Adams, who up until this year played for E. Washington. Yes, that’s right. Adams will be facing off against his former team in his first game as an Oregon Duck. Though Oregon’s offense often steals the limelight, the defense is a unit worth watching as well. Their front seven is intact, while the secondary will see three new starters with Tyree Robinson at safety and Arrion Springs and Chris Seisay at cornerback.

Adams’ replacement at E. Washington is Jordan West, who has some playing experience filling in for an injured Adams last season. E. Washington is a passing team, and tonight’s match up should see the squad throwing often, as West targets receivers Cooper Kupp, Kendrick Bourne, and Shaq Hill. Last year, the E. Washington Eagles attempted 37.6 passes per game.

Oregon’s points-per-game average was one of the best in the nation last year, and this game against E. Washington should showcase their point-scoring power while testing their inexperienced secondary against a team that loves to pass the ball.
