NFL referees fight during the game, ironic considering that a point of emphasis this season is sportsmanship.

An unusual event during the Houston Texans-Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday. Two referees got into a big dispute half way through the third quarter over whether or not the Texans could have a touchback.

First, I don’t think it was an accident they added Pony. SB Nation is obsessed with that song, even requiring that their new social media minion have an extensive knowledge of Ginuwine’s discography. (Oooooh oooooh Aaaaaah! Check me out Baby!)

Second, on what planet is it OK for officials to argue like that during a game? Especially when one of their points of emphasis this year is playing nicely with others. Sure, the NFL didn’t phrase it in such a patronizing way, but the bottom line is that players are supposed to keep their hands to themselves and be respectful.

Apparently that is OK on Planet NFL when you disagree with a ruling on touchbacks.
