The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

26. 60. 10. 50. Final

The Minnesota Vikings bounced back from a short week and disappointing opening game to defeat the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Teddy Bridgewater had an efficient day, going 14-for-18 for 153 yards and one touchdown. Adrian Peterson scored his first touchdown since November 2013, and went over 100 yards rushing for the first time since December 1, 2013.

As for Detroit, Matthew Stafford threw the ball 53 times, mainly because the Lions couldn’t get their run game going. When Stafford leads the team in rushing (four carries for 20 yards) that’s pretty much a recipe for disaster. Stafford ended up going 32-for-53 with two touchdowns and one interception. Calvin Johnson was targeted 17 times, and reeled in 10 passes to the tune of 83 yards and one touchdown.

All in all, Detroit’s run game killed the Tigers – Stafford ran for more yards than Ameer Abdullah, Theo Burton, Joique Bell and Michael Burton combined. The Vikes bottled them up, forced turnovers and ground out an efficient victory.

Three stars

Adrian Peterson: 29 carries, 134 yards; 2 receptions, 58 yards

Brian Robison: 6 tackles (5 solo), 1 tackle for loss, 2 passes defended

Ezekiel Ansah: 7 tackles (6 solo), 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss
