Kobe Bryant’s first shot of the preseason goes way off the mark (video)

Kobe Bryant’s first shot taken since returning from injury did not look so pretty.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant returned to action tonight in a preseason game against the Utah Jazz. Bryant suffered a torn rotator cuff in January of this year and was forced to sit out the rest of the 2014-15 NBA season after undergoing surgery.

Bryant is entering year 20 with the Lakers and talk of him retiring is greater than ever. He’s on the last year of a two-year, $43 million contract and has stated in the past this may be his final year at age 37.

However, before we get there, Bryant still has to play out the 2015-16 season. Judging by this first shot he took in tonight’s game, he’s clearly in mid-season form.

Wow, this looks like a shot taken during a pickup basketball game from the guy you know doesn’t play often. Unfortunately, that’s turned into Kobe, who has been limited to just 41 games over the past two seasons due to injury. It seems like a spectacle at this point when he does appear on the basketball court, and that may be the case throughout the season if this is really his final year.

So Kobe will now get nearly a full month’s worth of games with preseason action going on before the regular season. It should give him some time to make sure the basketball goes into the hoop.
