With the Miami Dolphins quickly trending in the wrong direction, who could replace Joe Philbin as head coach?

The Miami Dolphins came into the 2015 NFL season with big expectations. They gave quarterback Ryan Tannehill a new contract to put support in him as one of the faces of the franchise. Former Detroit Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh was also brought in last offseason to anchor the defense. There was also a lot of pressure placed on head coach Joe Philbin to lead this team to the playoffs.

However, this season hasn’t gone according to plan for the Dolphins. Tannehill has looked inconsistent while Suh is leading a rush defense that ranks towards the back of the league in nearly every statistic.

None of this bodes well for Philbin. What also didn’t help was the New York Jets defeating his team 27-14 earlier today in London. There was talk of the former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator’s job being on the line if the Dolphins put on an embarrassing performance today. Unfortunately for him, that was the case based on the score and the lackluster outing from Tannehill and the defense.

Now Philbin could be fired at any point, especially with the Dolphins on their bye week. It will give the front office, led by executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum, a chance to evaluate Philbin’s performance and if he should keep his job.

If Philbin gets fired, the Dolphins will need to look for a replacement. Who could be the next head coach?
