The Weekend Update returned with SNL’s season premiere, but Michael Che didn’t seem so happy with one of the jokes.

Saturday Night Live returned this weekend, and with it we saw the team at the Weekend Update return as well. Colin Jost and Michael Che formed a surprising dynamic duo on the Update desk last season and that relationship was renewed this season with the premiere.

That being said, things got a little dicey early on when Jost rolled with a joke that it appears not everyone in the writing room was thrilled he ran with.

The joke centered on the Burger King black whopper and how it is celebrating Halloween by turning it’s traditionally white bun into a black bun. Jost’s punchline to the update joke was that it’s okay for Burger King to pretend to be black on Halloween but when he does it, it’s racist.

Che wasn’t all that thrilled with the punchline, and made sure to tell Jost he thought it wasn’t going to happen.

It’s hard to tell if Che was really upset about the joke or just rubbed the wrong way by it — or if he was just playing it up. Either way, it added to uncomfortableness of the joke and in a way spiced up the comedy of it. Once again, Che was the best part about a Weekend Update moment, and if we get more of that this season, we’ll all be winners.
