South Carolina-LSU game moved to Baton Rouge

South Carolina and LSU have moved their game to Baton Rouge

After a week of searching for alternate solutions South Carolina and LSU officials have officially decided to move Saturday’s game between the Gamecocks and Tigers to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. Columbia, South Carolina has incurred heavy flooding in the wake of Hurricane Joaquin – with parts of the city even being evacuated due to an expected dam burst – putting more than just the football game in jeopardy.

With time ticking away before Saturday’s cross-divisional game, South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner released a statement that changing locations was the most prudent measure.

"“On behalf of the University of South Carolina Athletics Department, our thoughts and prayers are with those who have suffered the loss of life and property during this tragic flood. After much thought and consideration, and in conjunction with local and state authorities and with our own University administration, we have made the decision to move Saturday’s football game to Baton Rouge. Changing venues on such short notice is no easy task, and I would like to thank LSU President F. King Alexander and Athletics Director Joe Alleva for their cooperation and flexibility in working with us to change the site for Saturday’s football game.”"

As of post, the game’s kickoff time has not been released; it was originally slated to start at 12:00 p.m. ET. There has also been no mention of South Carolina’s game on October 17, a home contest against Vanderbilt.

LSU sits undefeated on the season, 4-0, and is coming off a 44-22 victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles. South Carolina is mired in a second consecutive diappointing season and sits at 2-3 on the year. The Gamecocks fell, 24-10, last week in a road contest against the Missouri Tigers.
