The Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers met in Game One of the ALDS on Thursday, and Texas was able to steal one on the road

39. 5. 126. Final. 3

Thursday afternoon the 2015 MLB Playoffs really got kicked off here in October now that the Wild Card games are out of the way, and to get it all started, we were treated to Game One of the ALDS between the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers inside Rogers Centre. Taking the mound for the Blue Jays in this crucial one was David Price, while the Rangers went with Yovani Gollardo.

The Texas Rangers got the scoring started in this one in the top of the third inning off of Price. Rougned Odor started off the inning being hit by a pitch and he would advance his way to second base. A short time later, Delino DeShields would single to right field, bringing Odor home for the 1-0 lead. That wouldn’t be all for the Rangers in this inning, though. After DeShields made his own way to second, Adrian Beltre singled to center field, bringing in another run to make it 2-0 over the Jays.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Blue Jays would finally get the home crowd some excitement as they got on the board. Ben Revere singled to center to start things off and and infield single from Edwin Encarnacion would bring him home to cut things to 2-1 entering the fifth inning.

This fifth inning, though, did not start out kind for the Blue Jays. Odor was hit by a pitch for the second time in the game to start things off, and then from there, Robinson Chirinos took David Price deep to left field to give the Rangers the 4-1 lead with no one out.

Toronto was not going down without a fight, however. In the fifth, Russell Martin would score on a double from Kevin Pillar, and then in the bottom of the sixth, the sparks would really start to fly. Keone Kela would come in to take over for Gallardo, and his day did not get off to a hot start. Jose Bautista launched an absolute bomb over the center field wall to cut that lead to 4-3.

Just when we thought the Blue Jays were getting the momentum back, though, Texas would snatch that right away. In the top of the seventh, after being drilled by two pitches in this one, Odor went deep for a solo shot to give the Rangers a 5-3 lead.

To start the top of the eight inning, David Price would be replaced by Brett Cecil.

Heading into the top of the ninth inning, we would learn more about the injury bug in this one, as Jose Bautista was removed from the game for the Blue Jays.

Sam Dyson was able to come in on the mound during the ninth and secure the Game 1 win for the Rangers.
