California vs. Utah

The No. 23 California Golden Bears will head into Salt Lake City to take on the red-hot No. 5 Utah Utes. Both teams are undefeated, so someone will be falling down the polls once this game concludes. Cal is led by QB Jared Goff, whose stock has taken off this season to the point where he’s a near lock to be a top-5 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Utah’s defense has led the way early on to a perfect record.

Keys to Victory

Cal will be relying on Goff and his fantastic skills that he has flashed early on this year. Through 5 games, the junior QB has thrown for 1,630 yards and 15 TDs. He showed the ability to play well on the road a few weeks ago against Washington, throwing for 342 yards. He’ll be throwing the ball to his main target, WR Kenny Lawler. If they can connect for a few scores, Cal could be sitting well by game’s end.

Utah will look towards senior QB Travis Wilson to lead them after throwing 4 TDs last week against the struggling Oregon Ducks in a 62-20 beat down. Add in the paltry 18.8 points per game that the Utes defense is allowing, and they should be able to compete with Cal’s high-powered offense.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Utah -7.5
Moneyline: Utah -320

Prediction

This game will be a battle of Cal’s offense vs Utah’s defense. Both have been elite so far this season but can Cal go into Salt Lake City and win?

The Golden Bears should be able to behind Goff’s strong play at the QB position. They will also need to control Utah’s offense, which hasn’t extremely effective. If they can get a stop or two, they should be able to pull off the upset.

Final Score: California Golden Bears: 35, Utah Utes: 21
