Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett finally steps in to show decency and address Greg Hardy’s comments properly.

Defensive end Greg Hardy is returning from a suspension and in his first meeting with the media he said all the wrong things. He made inappropriate comments about another player’s wife and an ill-advised gun reference, bringing about an incredible rant from Katie Nolan that addressed Hardy perfectly.

To make things worse, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stepped in and basically doubled down on Hardy’s comments. He basically agreed with Hardy’s stance on Tom Brady’s wife and tried to justify Hardy’s comments involving guns.

Finally someone in the Cowboys organization is showing some kind of intelligence and sensitivity to the situation at hand. Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is stepped in and denounced Hardy’s comments and saying they’re not reflective of the organization.

That’s not how we want to operate as an organization, players and coaches in our organization understand that,” Garrett said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We want to distinguish ourselves with our play, not with what we say. We define ourselves by what we do, not by what we say. Greg understands that now and that’s how we’re going forward.”

So the coach of the team who was on the hot seat last season cares more about upholding the reputation of the organization than the guy who owns the team? Yikes.
