When the Miami Hurricanes face off against the Virginia Cavaliers this Saturday, they’ll sporting Miami Orange and a bit of green along with some camo.

Saturday sees the Miami Hurricanes face off against the Virginia Cavaliers and they’ll be “ready for war” in more ways than one. According to U of M and Adidas on their official press release that dropped on Monday, the rumoured black jerseys will make their first appearance as they unveiled their special alternate kits paying homage to the U.S. military.

At first glance, you might not see the desert camo base layer, but it’s there. Emblazoned on the chest is a giant silver U. The gloves and socks are also colored in a beige camo combination that hearkens to the colors of the United States Army Delta Force.

The helmet, jersey, and pants are all in black with “U” logos all around.

The coolest part of the entire jersey has to be those beige football cleats. If you’ve ever run into a current member of the U.S. Army in full military garb, those iconic steel toed beige boots set themselves apart from the rest of everyone’s civilian gear footwear.

The icing on the cake for Adidas in partnership with the Miami VA Fisher house are 1,000 free tickets to veterans and current members of active military. Let’s hope they’re not all bleacher seats. And all those special jerseys worn by players? At the end of the game, they’ll all be collected and auctioned off with all winnings going to the Miami VA Healthcare system.

Hat tip to Adidas and the University of Miami for taking the initiative and extra effort to honor our armed forces. According to the press release, over 60,000 veterans are currently served by the Miami VA Healthcare system, no small number.
