The second College Football Playoff ranking is out and we already have some shake ups that fans won’t be happy about.

The second College Football Playoff ranking is out, and already we’ve had a shakeup at the top. With just four slot open for the playoffs, there are going to be teams who slip and slide around in ways that aren’t always appealing to fans.

Look no further than LSU, who got waxed by Alabama on Saturday and have thus taken a dive in the rankings — falling out of the playoff spot they earned last week. Similarly, Michigan State took a hard fall when they were upset by Nebraska, albeit in a much less embarrassing way.

Nevertheles, the rankings are out and it means we have another week to chew on what the committee has decided upon. Here’s a look at who is at the top of the College Football Playoff ranking and therefore in at the moment:

1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame

Last week saw Notre Dame and Baylor as the first two teams out.

5. Iowa
6. Baylor

Just outside of the top of the rankings are the teams still alive at the bottom of the top 10 but not yet quiet good enough for the committee to cut them a break:

7. Stanford
8. Oklahoma State
9. LSU
10. Utah

And the rest of the Top 25, which is a hodgepodge of teams still trying to keep their hopes alive and others just jockeying for the best bowl positioning they can hope for at this point

11. Florida
12. Oklahoma
13. Michigan State
14. Michigan
15. TCU
16. Florida State
17. Mississippi State
18. Northwestern
19. UCLA
20. Navy
21. Memphis
22. Temple
23. North Carolina
24. Houston
25. Wisconsin

It’s very likely that we have another shake up at some point before the end of the season, but things are starting to settle at the top of the rankings. Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson need to stay in their lane if they want to continue to hold onto their playoff spot, while Notre Dame, Baylor and others need to keep hoping they don’t let the moment swallow them up like so many teams this past Saturday.
