Seattle’s Ricardo Lockette had a serious neck injury in Week 8 versus Dallas. After his operation, he began handing out 100 cheeseburgers to the homeless, in a neck brace nonetheless.

The Seattle Seahawks‘ Ricardo Lockette’s season may have come to an end after a scary neck injury that resulted in a hit from Dallas Cowboys special teams player Jeff Heath in Week 8, but that did stop him from making an impact in the Dallas community.

After immediately leaving the Dallas hospital where he had an operation on his neck, Lockette saw several homeless people living on the sidewalk. Lockette instructed his driver to make a slight detour to a nearby McDonald’s. He return to the sidewalk with 100 cheeseburgers to hand out to the people in need, all while wearing a neck brace.

Most people wouldn’t do that kind of good humanitarian gesture, much less immediately after a surgical procedure needed because of a potentially career-ending injury. What Lockette did was incredible in all accounts.

Ricardo Lockette’s father Earl spoke to TMZ about his son’s act of charity. “He had a neck brace on while passing out burgers. Some people were like ‘What happened to you?’ but Ricardo didn’t try and bring attention to who he was…Some people knew who he was. But this was more about Ricardo seeing people who were in worse shape than him, and wanting to help them however he could.”

Lockette’s gesture is proof that there are players in the NFL that truly care about helping out in the community. He didn’t do this to gain publicity or anything like that. What Lockette did was out of the kindness of his heart. This is one of the better stories to come out of the NFL this season. Good job by you, Ricardo!
