The Kansas City Chiefs went into the Mile High city and pasted the Denver Broncos, 29-13. However, something much more important took place in the third quarter, when Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was benched for Brock Osweiler.

Manning was absolutely terrible, throwing 20 times and completing just five passes with zero touchdowns and four interceptions. While Manning was in the game, Denver was only able to gain 49 yards of total offense, showcasing just how much of a beating this game really was. Alex Smith hit on 17-of-31 for 204 yards and a touchdown, including an 80-yard scoring strike to running back Charcandrick West.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Chiefs defense

This has to go to the entire unit. Kansas City was tremendous throughout the afternoon, notching five sacks and the same amount of interceptions. The Chiefs dominated from start to finish, mostly because the Broncos could not protect, nor could it find open receivers. The Chiefs allowed almost nothing all day.

2. Charcandrick West

The little-known running back in his second season out of Abilene Christian is doing a nice job filling in for the injured Jamaal Charles. West amassed 149 total yards and two touchdowns, getting the job done both in the air and on the ground. West has become a viable fantasy option.

3. Demaryius Thomas

Thomas caught seven passes for 71 yards, showing that he was still trying despite the lopsided nature of the game. Denver was throttled throughout the day, but Thomas was able to create space and make some plays.

Odds

The Broncos were favored by 3.5 points and did not cover the spread. The OVER/UNDER was set at 42 and it was the UNDER that carried the day.

Next Week

Kansas City will be on the road to play the San Diego Chargers while Denver hits the road to take on the Chicago Bears.
