Georgetown Hoyas vs. No. 3 Maryland Terrapins

Right on the cusp of breaking into the Top 25 in the preseason polls, it looked likely that a win over No. 3 Maryland would vault the Georgetown Hoyas into the group of top teams in week two. However, a home loss to Radford changed everything for the Hoyas, even if it was a fluke defeat.

As for the Terrapins, sitting in the top five, they’re considered by many to be the best team in the Big Ten by a relatively wide margin and maybe even the most talented group in the country. Garnering the second-most first-place voted of any team in college basketball and coming off a blowout win over Mount St. Mary’s, the Terps have a real shot at No. 1.

Coming off a solid performance in which he recorded a double-double, senior center Bradley Hayes might cause the biggest problem for Maryland as he scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Radford.

While Hayes and D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera might pose a problem for Maryland at center and guard, respectively, the Terrapins have guys like Melo Trimble, Jake Layman, Diamond Stone and Rshaeed Sulaimon who all have star potential.

This rivalry contest is going to be no easy win for the Terrapins, but expect Maryland to show their strength and potential to be great.
