Chattanooga Mocs vs. Florida State Seminoles

Both teams have a record of 8-2, and although the FSU is ranked 16th in the nation, the Mocs have a chance to upset a powerhouse. Chattanooga is less productive through the air than on the ground, featuring star running back Derrick Crane who has 12 rushing touchdowns so far this year. The Florida State defensive line did well against Georgia Tech, a team that runs a spread offense that is similar to the Mocs. They should be prepared to contain the Mocs run game.

Florida State has an elite running back of its own in Dalvin Cook who averages 152.1 rushing yards per game and an amazing 8.1 yards per carry. Chattanooga is ranked 18th in total defense, giving up just 153 yards through the air. Their secondary is particularly effective, though the team could struggle against FSU’s menacing run game.

Though Chattanooga is a lower-profile team, they could prove a tenacious competitor. Since the Mocs rely nearly exclusively on the run in the end zone, they will have to penetrate a formidable Florida State defense in order to score.

Chattanooga is unranked, but their two losses were by a combined six points. In other words, they lost two games by a margin of three points. While Chattanooga’s competitors are, well, less competitive than Florida State’s, the Mocs know how to win, and have managed to pull out victories eight times this season. When they lost, they put up a good fight.

Florida State will likely win this match up, but Chattanooga will be a worthy competitor. This game is definitely worth watching.
