Canelo Alvarez would have no problem getting in the ring with GGG, but he of course has his one condition

Saturday night, if there was anyone that had a bit of doubt in their mind, Canelo Alvarez went out to the ring and proved that he may indeed be the best middleweight in the world when he convincingly came away with the unanimous decision win over Miguel Cotto. With the win, Alvarez earned himself the WBC middleweight crown, as well as the title of lineal middleweight champion.

However, there is another man that could in fact lay claim to being the best middleweight in the world, that man being Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. The undefeated, power-punching sensation from Kazakhstan holds every other middleweight belt there is, and has been itching to get into the ring with the winner of the fight from Saturday night to prove who the best in the world really is.

After the win over Cotto, Alvarez stated in the ring during his post-fight interview that he would put the gloves on at that very moment to do battle with his friend and former sparring partner. But, after things calmed down a little bit, while he didn’t back down from saying that he’d fight Golovkin, he reiterated the one condition he has that we’ve all known about for some time now.

Really, this is the only thing preventing us from seeing a middleweight battle that would surely be one for the ages. GGG fights at the true middleweight limit of 160-pounds, while Alvarez chooses to fight at the catchweight of around 154. Golovkin has stated in the past that he would drop the weight to the 154 area to put on a mega fight with Floyd Mayweather, but there’s no telling yet if he’d do the same to give us what could be one of the best middleweight boxing showdowns of all time,

For our sake, and the sake of boxing fans all over the world, hopefully some sort of agreement can be met sooner rather than later.
