Rob Ryan was coming in hot with the Hurricane Katrina jokes.

Rob Ryan was canned this past week. After nearly three years the New Orleans Saints sobered up, experienced a moment of clarity and fired their roguish defensive coordinator.

Given that no Ryan has ever met a microphone they didn’t enjoy, Rob took his luscious locks and steel blue eyes to NFL Network’s GameDay Morning show on Sunday. He was a hit, and dropped heaters all over the place. For instance, there was this wisecrack about New Orleans blaming everything from a bad defense to Hurricane Katrina on Ryan.

Ten years. Too soon?

Sounds like something a bunch of self-righteous people who live on the Internet looking for reasons to get upset will latch onto. In reality, meh. Pretty good parlor joke. Besides, does this look like the kind of guy who doesn’t love NOLA?

Guy is as rugged as a wildebeest. As majestic as a unicorn. As brazen as a liquored up sailor. He’s a national treasure.

More Viking Rob, please.
