Wide receiver Terrell Owens would love to have the opportunity to play for Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and the New England Patriots.

Terrell Owens has reached the point in his post-NFL career where he will be up for election into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016. Unlike most people in his situation, Owens is not ready to completely give up playing in the NFL despite not playing in the NFL regularly since 2010. He’d love to play for the New England Patriots.

“Would I be open to it? Considering an organization like the Patriots? Yes,” said Owens, via The Boston Globe. “Knowing Tom [Brady] and understanding the structure of what Bill Belichick, how he runs his ship, I have no problem with that. A lot of people will obviously speculate into what I may bring from a negative standpoint to that organization. I’m not that same guy I was five, 10 years ago. In terms of me understanding the situation that I’m getting myself into, then I would have to govern myself accordingly, understanding there’s going to be a lot of negative things said if that were to be the case. Am I capable of playing? Absolutely.”

Terrell Owens might want to play for the Patriots, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is if head coach Bill Belichick wants him on the Patriots. Belichick has typically stayed away from “divas” like Owens. He tolerated Randy Moss while Moss was productive enough to justify the inevitable headaches caused by Moss. Owens likely can’t be productive enough for Belichick to justify signing such a polarizing player.

It’s easy to see why Terrell Owens would want to sign with the Patriots. Owens accomplished many things in his career. His career will almost indefinitely wound up being enshrined in Canton one day. One thing that Owens never accomplished was winning a Super Bowl. Signing with the Patriots would be his best shot at winning one.
