The Golden State Warriors have become the first team in NBA history to start a season 16-0, and there are plenty of overlooked reasons for their success.

The Golden State Warriors are the best team in the NBA and there’s no way to deny it. Their championship from the 2014-15 season will always be questioned by some as the Cleveland Cavaliers would have been far better off if they had their two All-Stars in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Yet, we can never know exactly how those Finals would have ended, so the only certainty we can take comfort in is the new NBA season and the 2015-16 championship that awaits us.

As of right now, though, we sit at the start of the regular season. Which, for the Warriors, has looked easy after they broke the record for the best start in NBA history by going 16-0 after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.

They don’t just make winning look easy, they make crushing everyone look easy.

With a point differential of +15.6, they’ve cruised past most of their opponents so far. Yes, that 50 point blowout against the Memphis Grizzlies has boosted that stat slightly, but the Warriors have still been out of reach for virtually everyone that’s faced them. From their smothering defense to their flurries of threes that no one can stop, Golden State are just on another level right now.

So, even though there aren’t just five keys to the success of a team who’ve made NBA history with such a dominant start, let’s break down five of the most important ones. Because even though many act like it, Stephen Curry isn’t actually the only reason for their 16-0 record.
