Jerry Jones confirmed on Friday what we more or less already knew about the status of Tony Romo.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appeared on the radio Friday, and during this appearance he pretty much gave us an answer that we all knew already. Starting quarterback Tony Romo will be out the remainder of the season after suffering a hairline fracture in his clavicle during the loss to the Carolina Panthers on Thanksgiving.

Romo was sacked by Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis in the second half of the Cowboys’ 33-14 loss and he was immediately taken to the locker room, favoring that left shoulder that he injured back in Week 2. From the moment that everyone saw Romo laying on the turf, you knew that his year was over just one week after he started it up again.

If there seems to be any potential good news out of this, it’s that he does not need surgery. Also, it’s a hairline fracture, which isn’t nearly as bad as what he did in Week 2 when he broke it in six places. So, with there being no surgery required, that should help out the recovery time tremendously.

But, for now, we got the confirmation that we were all looking for following what took place on Thursday. This whirlwind season for Tony Romo will come to a close for good and he can now rehab and try to regroup next season.
