Now that the college football season is coming to a close, who will be battling for the Big Ten title?

Last season, some people were stunned that the winner of the College Football Playoff, the inaugural season of the format that everyone wanted for quite some time, came from none other than the Big Ten. The Ohio State Buckeyes won the Big Ten Championship Game and used that momentum to capture a national title.

This season, there’s a good possibility that history could repeat itself as the Iowa Hawkeyes and Michigan State Spartans will square off for the conference crown on December 5 in Indianapolis.

Iowa has really been the darling of the conference this season, playing their way to an unbelievable 12-0 record. While the West division was wide open to begin the year, there were very few people who thought back in August this Iowa team could do what they ended up doing. But, Kirk Ferentz had this team ready to make a run and they did. With a win on Saturday, they’ll most certainly be in the College Football Playoff.

As far as the East division goes, it all came down to the final week of the season. All Michigan State had to do it beat Penn State and they would earn their spot, and they were able to do that. They beat both Ohio State and Michigan this season, proving that they are one of the best teams in the country. Had it not been for an unfortunate loss to Nebraska, this team would be undefeated as well. Despite the loss, there is still a scenario where the Spartans are one of the final four. However, they definitely have to beat Iowa in Indianapolis.
