The Bengals got a gift early with a wide-open A.J. Green in the end zone

A.J. Green has made countless incredible plays for the Cincinnati Bengals over his career. With his size, length, and athleticism, Green has the ability to make catches that many NFL receivers simply don’t have the physical tools to make. However, the St. Louis Rams didn’t make him work hardly at all in the first quarter of their Week 12 matchup.

After a nice drive from the Bengals where a great run-after-catch by Green put Cincinnati in the red zone, the Bengals were set up on the 10-yard line. Green ran a simple route spread out wide to the left and somehow was left uncovered as he dashed toward the end zone. Andy Dalton delivered arguably the easiest pass he’ll ever throw for the touchdown:

It’s highly doubtful that Jeff Fisher was telling the Rams defense to definitely let A.J. Green walk wide-open into the end zone; that’s not exactly the best defensive strategy if you’re looking to have success.

Despite his prowess and the success of the Bengals this season, Green hasn’t been particularly productive this season as he’d only found the end zone four times coming into this matchup with the Rams. If St. Louis plays defense on him like that all day, though, that total is going to climb a great deal.
