Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr left his game after a big hit.

The Raiders are trying desperately to stay in the AFC playoff race, but they took a potentially devastating hit on Sunday afternoon in their game against the Tennessee Titans. Quarterback Derek Carr took a major hit in the first quarter and stayed down before leaving the game. There is not word on the severity of the injury.

If Carr is out for any amount of time, the Raiders are all but cooked. Matt McGloin has not had to start a game this season, and if he has to take control, it’s bad news for the folks by the Bay. McGloin had a decent career at Penn State and has clung to a backup job in Oakland, but he isn’t the kind of player who can take a team to the playoffs.

At 4-6, the Raiders might need to run the table to make the playoffs. They have not been to the postseason since 2002, when Rich Gannon, Jerry Rice and Tim Brown were still starring in the silver and black. Head coach Jack Del Rio was doing a great job with the team, but has lost three consecutive games in November.
