Matt Schaub is back to old, bad habits with the Ravens as he threw a pick-six against the Browns

Matt Schaub has taken over the starting quarterback duties for the Baltimore Ravens after Joe Flacco tore his ACL in Week 11. Schaub made his first start with Baltimore on Monday Night Football against the Cleveland Browns and looked decent through the first half. At the start of the second half, though, Schaub’s old, bad habits started to resurface.

Less than three minutes into the third quarter, Schaub dropped back to pass and looked for his target over the middle of the field. Not only did Schaub stare down his receiver the entire way, but he also terribly underthrew the pass. The result was Karlos Dansby interception that he took 52 yards to the house for a pick-six:

Hats off to Dansby for making the play on the ball, but what else do you expect from Schaub besides a pick-six at this point? His propensity for turning the ball over—costly ones at that—is one of the primary reasons that he’s no longer a first-string quarterback in the NFL. After all, he is the only quarterback to throw a pick-six in four consecutive games, a dubious honor he earned in 2013.

Such is life for the Ravens with Schaub at quarterback for the rest of the season. While there are backups far worse than him in the league, this is the risk you take when you put him under center.
