Jimbo Fisher has no intention on leaving the Florida State Seminoles for the head coaching gig at the University of Georgia.

Jimbo Fisher, head coach of the Florida State Seminoles, left no doubt when he told Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel that he had no desire to leave Florida State for the vacant head coaching job at the University of Georgia. Fisher said, “I’m staying right here at Florida State. All those other places (LSU, Georgia, etc.) are great, but this is just as good.”

Fisher’s name has circulated as a potential head coaching candidate – most notably for the LSU Tigers – in recent weeks. Though the LSU athletic department said that they plan on keeping current head coach Les Miles, there is still a great deal of unrest surrounding the job Miles has done of late at LSU.

Fisher never really was a serious candidate to replace Mark Richt in Athens, but since the open Georgia gig is the best available in college football, it is understandable that people would jump to conclusions and throw his name in the ring as the next head coach of the Bulldogs.

Though Fisher would have the same opportunity to beat Florida every year and possibly work with former defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt again, he is right about the Florida State gig being as good as both the Georgia and LSU jobs. All three are college football blue-bloods and dream jobs for most aspiring college coaches – not stepping stones.

Jimbo Fisher seems to thoroughly enjoy himself at Florida State University and he may not want to ever jump ship from the ACC Atlantic. It still stands as a much easier way to get into the College Football Playoff than coaching in the blood bath that the SEC can become at times. Florida State recruits itself and besides, Fisher already has a national championship under his belt at FSU (with the Noles being a strong contender for one next year). Why leave when already at the top of the mountain?
