Ty Lawson’s time in Houston could soon be over, if rumors of Houston seeking to trade him are to be believed.

When the Houston Rockets acquired Ty Lawson this past summer, they thought they were getting the final piece to pull them closer to an NBA Championship. Instead, the team has been an unmitigated disaster and look primed for being on the version of implosion if things continue to fall apart in Houston.

They already fired their coach, James Harden’s play hasn’t been as good as it could be and off-season acquisitions aren’t working out like the team would have liked them to.

Ty Lawson has just not provided the production this season for Houston whenever he has stepped foot on the court. The team doesn’t seem to have any flow or rhythm on the court with him out there.

Because of this, rumors are beginning to circulate that Lawson could soon very well be on the move according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders.

"The Rockets have been sniffing around the league for deals and there is a belief among other teams that Lawson could be had in trade, and had cheaply. Lawson is owed $12.4 million this season with the final $13.21 million of his deal being fully non-guaranteed.As the Rockets search for ways to change, there is a belief that Lawson could be the first Rocket player moved. But given how poorly Lawson has played in Houston and his troublesome off-the-court history, it’s hard to imagine that Lawson alone is going to yield much in return. But as teams start to get desperate, Lawson does have a career assist average of more than 6.5 assists per game and averaged 9.6 per game last season for the Nuggets. The Rockets have been sniffing around the league for deals and there is a belief among other teams that Lawson could be had in trade, and had cheaply. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see Lawson moved soon, as trade season is right around the corner when teams can start trading players that they signed as free agents in the summer. It makes it easier to make cap space work and there is always pickup of movement around mid-December.

The Rockets would probably like to see if the team could finally gel, but in the tough Western Conference, the road is only going to get tougher for them as things go on. If they continue to keep losing over the next couple of weeks and the season looks like a wash, it might be time to start making some moves to try and fix the issues with the team.
