Will Obama’s address delay Sunday Night Football?

President Obama is expected to speak to the nation on Sunday night about the recent terror attack in California, and it might push back the Colts-Steelers game.

After the recent terrorist attacks in San Bernardino this past week, President Obama is going to take time away from his usually Sunday night activities to address a nation concerned with what is happening. So much negativity and tragedy has happened this past week and the President is going to put the nation on pause to address the people of this country on exactly what has been happening and what is being done.

That means Sunday Night Football might have to rearrange itself around this change of events.

Obama is slated to address the nation at 8pm ET on Sunday night, with networks like FOX and ABC already signing off on pushing back their programming or scrapping that block altogether. ABC will be pushing back it’s Sunday night slate while FOX will be dumping this week’s episode of The Simpsons.

NBC has made no official statement, but given it’s the flagship for one of the biggest American journalism institutions in the country, it’s not hard to see SNF getting pushed back. When things like this have happened before, the start of the game has usually been delayed with the President’s address being broadcast on the big screens in the stadium.

Obama’s address might not take up a full half hour, which is what has been scheduled, but it’s pretty likely that SNF will be pushed back a half hour and kickoff won’t happen when originally anticipated.
