The Houston Texans are tied for first in the AFC South, and we look at the five reasons they will win the division when all is said and done.

Things started out pretty ugly for the Houston Texans this season. They were the stars of the preseason, as they were featured on the HBO series “Hard Knocks.” Their head coach, Bill O’Brien, became a star for his sense of humor and choice language.

One of the biggest features of the series was the quarterback battle between Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett. Hoyer won and was told he was not on a short-leash, which is really when things got bad. Mallett pouted after losing the job and slept through the next practice. The team seemed to deal with him by a slap on the wrist, but it was a terrible look.

Then the season started, and one pass in things looked even worse. Hoyer’s first regular season pass wound up in the hands of Chiefs rookie cornerback Marcus Peters. Hoyer was benched after three quarters only to win the job again later.

The second demotion sent Mallett off the deep end, and out of the Texans’ facility as well. Since then, though, the team is looking better, as they’re currently tied for first place in the AFC South following a four-game winning streak.

When the remaining five games are played, Houston will still be sitting atop the AFC South, and here is a look at the five biggest reasons for such a bold prediction.
