The New York Jets’ 2016 schedule and opponents are locked and loaded

How about those New York Jets. Was there any team more surprising in 2015 than the Jets? If there was, it’s a very short list.

Just think about how the season kicked off. Todd Bowles was an interesting choice to replace Rex Ryan – a quiet, lead-by-example kinda guy instead of one with a relentless bombastic nature. And then how about Geno Smith getting his jaw punched in by Ik Enemkpali? That’s a helluva situation for a first-year head coach to tackle in the offseason. Nonetheless, Bowles held his team together and they turned out one helluva season.

One year after scraping the dregs with a 4-12 record, the 2015 iteration of the Jets carved out a double-digit win season. It helps that the team’s defense was solid and that Chris Ivory ran like a man possessed.

Looking forward toward 2016 and the Jets have quite the road ahead. They match up against the NFC West, which was arguably the toughest division in all football during 2015. Then there’s the AFC North, which with an explosive Steelers offense and complete Bengals club could pose some issues.

They may have missed the playoffs, but for the first time in several seasons the New York Jets and their fans have reason for optimism heading into the offseason.
