Baylor head coach Art Briles believes that his former quarterback Robert Griffin III is the perfect fit for the Dallas Cowboys.

When Robert Griffin III was the quarterback at Baylor, he took the nation by storm before having a fantastic rookie season with the Washington Redskins. He hasn’t been the same since blowing out his knee and has never taken the next step as quarterback in the league.

With the emergence of Kirk Cousins at quarterback, the Redskins have moved on from Griffin and the only thing to decide next is where he ends up. Earlier this week, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman said that the Cowboys would sign either Johnny Manziel or Griffin this offseason to be the backup to Tony Romo.

Griffin’s college coach, Art Briles, believes that Dallas would be the perfect place for him to end up this offseason. Briles told the Dallas Morning News how he would feel about Griffin ending up a member of the Cowboys.

"“You could have a dream. That would probably be making it come true,” Briles said from Senior Bowl practices. “That would be a great place for him. It’s a great organization; being back in Texas and with the Cowboys and having a chance to get in there under Romo for three years. Not that they need to sell tickets, but it wouldn’t hurt ticket sales.”"

The move makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Cowboys get a capable backup that still holds value in Griffin, while Griffin gets to come back home and be in a place where he can succeed and continue to learn.

It would also make a lot more sense for the Cowboys to sign Griffin then Manziel as well. Griffin is the mature quarterback that has shown he can be successful at the NFL level, while Manziel has yet to get his life in order and there’s still a ton of doubt regarding his NFL prospects.

If there’s a homecoming for Griffin, Briles thinks it’s the perfect thing for him.
