P.K. Subban is a huge fan of Cam Newton and sees him as an inspirational figure

Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban might be the most polarizing player in the NHL. He is an extremely talented player who wears his heart on his sleeve and tends to act in a flamboyant manner. So really, it’s only natural that he would be a fan of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who fits that description as well. Subban sees a lot of similarities between him and Newton.

“I think we share a lot of similarities in terms of our approach to our game and how we see things,” said Subban, via ESPN. “The number one thing is that an impactful player. He’s performed better than anyone else in the NFL. It’s hard for me to say as a Dallas Cowboys fan, but I’m a huge Cam Newton fan. I love him as a player. Not just because [we are similar], but because he is who he is.”

P.K. Subban also said that he couldn’t help but notice how charitable and kind Newton is to everyone. Like Newton, Subban is extremely charitable and giving. Newton makes it a point to ensure that kids are the ones who get the football when the Panthers score, and Subban recently donated $10,000,000 to Montreal’s Children’s Hospital. Newton enjoys dabbing and doing his Superman celebration after touchdowns. Subban might be the NHL’s king of goal celebrations.

It’s great that there are guys like Subban and Newton in this world. They challenge and inspire each other to be better people.
