American astronaut Scott Kelly is watching Super Bowl 50 aboard the International Space Station

Millions and millions of people around the world stopped what they were doing on Sunday to watch Super Bowl 50, as is the yearly tradition for both diehard and casual football fans. However, Super Bowl 50 had at least one viewer who was watching from out of this world—the International Space Station to be specific.

American astronaut Scott Kelly took to Twitter to let everyone down on Earth know that he was up in the International Space Station enjoying the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers face off for the NFL’s biggest prize all by himself, with a touch of humor just for good measure:

That’s a solid lonely astronaut joke, the best one that we’ll probably see for quite a while.

Because of what astronauts do, people sometimes tend to forget that they are still human beings and Kelly happens to be a person who enjoys watching football. He just happens to have the opportunity to watch Super Bowl 50 while he’s floating thousands of miles outside of the Earth’s atmosphere, even if he has to watch the big game all by himself.

Hopefully those freeze-dried nachos or whatever else he’s eating up in space is just as good as the mountains of hot wings that those of us down on the ground are enjoying for Super Bowl 50 festivities.
