Seahawks rookie defensive end Frank Clark called Cam Newton a vulgar name for not jumping on a fumble in Super Bowl 50.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton didn’t have himself a good game against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. He was hit all night by a ferocious pass rush and never could get anything moving on offense.

While his night wasn’t good, there is one play that sticks out that will be a criticism of Newton’s performance. Late in the game, Newton was hit and fumbled the football. With the football down in front of him, it looked like Newton could have dove on the football and recovered it for the Panthers.

He didn’t and the Broncos recovered deep in Panthers territory instead and punched it in to pull away from the Panthers in Super Bowl 50. After the play, people began criticizing Newton, including Seattle Seahawks rookie defensive end Frank Clark.

Clark called Newton a “B—-” for not diving on the football.

While that’s certainly plenty of bulletin board material for the Panthers the next time they play Seattle, that play is going to give people a bad view of Newton’s performance for a long time.

It’s hard to disagree with the notion that he should have jumped on the football, considering it was the biggest game of the year. There’s probably nicer ways to say it however.
