Will Phil Jackson eventually be making his way back to the Los Angeles Lakers?

When Phil Jackson returned to the team that he played for a few years ago, the New York Knicks, to run the team as president, there was a lot of hope. While the Knicks haven’t exactly lit the world on fire and they just this week fired head coach Derek Fisher, you could see that there are some pieces in place coming together on this team where they could be a contender again one day. Kristaps Porzingis is a good example of this.

But, will Jackson be jumping ship on the experiment soon? Are his days in New York pretty much numbered? They might be and this could all be centered around a return to the Los Angeles Lakers.

When Jackson showed Fisher the door on Monday, immediately the first name that came to mind as a replacement eventually was Luke Walton, who did a pretty good job running the Golden State Warriors this season while Steve Kerr was out recovering from back surgery. A Jackson-Walton reunion may happen, but it won’t be in New York.

According to

Adrian Wojnarowski and Yahoo Sports

, there is a very strong belief that Jackson will make his way back to the Lakers sooner rather than later. At this point with the way the Lakers have played as of late, Byron Scott will more than likely not be the head coach of the team next season, meaning that Walton could step right in and take that as his first full-time head coaching gig — with Jackson running the operations under fiancee Jeanie Buss.

We know that the Lakers will be undergoing a lot of changes next season, but will those changes include Luke Walton running the bench and Phil Jackson running the entire organization?
