Will Cleveland Cavaliers superstar forward LeBron James be in the Slam Dunk Contest during NBA All-Star Weekend?

The Slam Dunk Contest has been a staple of NBA All-Star Weekend for many years and has produced some of the most memorable highlights in the history of the game. In many ways, the contest has helped elevate players into superstars with such a national platform for them to showcase their talents.

Over recent years, the contest has felt like it’s missing that superstar presence during the event. The greats used to take part in the Slam Dunk Contest and it’s where they furthered their legacy and had everyone remembering their dunks for a lifetime. One player that has never taken part is LeBron James.

James is one of the most powerful at dunks and everyone for years has wondered just when he is going to take on the Slam Dunk Contest and show everyone how to throw down a legendary slam.

Unfortunately for everyone that is waiting for that moment, it won’t be happening this year and it likely won’t be happening ever, as James is starting to get up there in age and he’s focused now more on winning championships and putting the attention on his team.

The time for James to take part in the dunk contest when he was a lot younger and still gaining notoriety in the league. Now that he’s an established player and has a legendary resume behind his name, he doesn’t really gain anything by going out there.

Plus if accounting for his age, then he just wouldn’t be as good at it now as he could have been in his earlier playing days. Everyone has dreamed of seeing him take off from the free throw line or dunk over a bunch of teammates at once. Sadly, those will remain dreams.
