The NBA trade deadline is right around the corner, but Greg Monroe might not be on the move.

When the Milwaukee Bucks shocked everyone this summer by signing Greg Monroe, we all wondered how it would end up working out. The Bucks went from a lowly team to a playoff team in the matter of months and seems on the cusp of being contenders in the East this year. Adding Monroe only made them more appealing, but already he’s being rumored to be on the trade block after less than half a season with the team.

Will the Bucks really trade Monroe this winter or is this all just a case of the rumor mill spinning too quickly?

NBA rumors guru Chuck Myron opined that the Bucks aren’t going to simply give up on Monroe after less than a year, although there’s more than likely going to be interest.

"I don’t see a trade happening there, but I think plenty of teams would have interest. Monroe’s not going to solve all of team’s problems, but he’s a legit inside scoring force that would fit a team with athletic defenders on the perimeter who could offset his defensive shortcomings. Theoretically, the Bucks could become that team."

The Bucks will no doubt have suitors for Monroe, as there have been teams like New York, Dallas and Los Angeles who tried to engage the Pistons about getting Monroe but were unable to make a deal happen. Even when the big man hit the unrestricted free agent market this summer, offering him a max deal ended up as a fruitless endeavor — so naturally those teams would make sense as suitors.

But the ducks would be foolish to blow things up so soon. They’re not the contenders we thought they might be, but cutting bait on Monroe is a dumb idea.
