When will the Chicago Cubs report to spring training in 2016?

The Chicago Cubs will be going into the 2016 season as one of the World Series favorites after an impressive 2015 season. They got even better this offseason by signing starting pitcher John Lackey and outfielder Jason Heyward from their rival St. Louis Cardinals. Adding infielder Ben Zobrist was the icing on the cake to a wonderful offseason.

The Cubs will officially begin spring training when pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 19. Starting pitcher Jake Arrieta is the reigning National League Cy Young winner. Chicago’s rotation will also feature starting pitcher Jon Lester. Lester and Lackey will be reunited for the first time since their days with the Boston Red Sox. Relief pitcher Adam Warren will be joining Chicago after being traded from the New York Yankees for infielder Starlin Castro. Pitchers and catchers will get in their first workout on Feb. 20.

Chicago fans will get their first glimpse at Heyward and Zobrist on Feb. 23 when position players report to spring training. Joining Heyward and Zobrist will be first baseman Anthony Rizzo, third baseman Kris Bryant, shortstop Addison Russell, outfielder Kyle Schwarber, and outfielder Jorge Soler. Manager Joe Maddon will be conducting the first full squad workout of spring training on Feb. 24.
